Last night the Dominican Republic Baseball team beat Cuba 5-2 to win the World Cup/Pan American Games Qualifier.

Having already beaten Cuba twice in the tournement, and after a fantastic victory over U.S A in the semi-finals, the Dominican Team were heavy favorites to win the final.

Man of the match Alexis Gomez  blasted a triple which opened up a 5-0 lead after the first innings!

Cuba scored two consolation runs late on but the outcome was never in doubt.

Reflecting on the game, Gomez said “We never gave up, the work was tough but we got the win. The most important was that we played together and did the job as it should. I feel very proud to be here representing my country,”
