If you are off to visit the National Aquarium in Santo Domingo, hold your horses, as it is temporarily being closed whilst repair works caused by Hurricane Dean are being carried out. The aquarium will be shut for 15 days and is scheduled to re-open around mid September 2007. The aquarium suffered some structural damage but none of its inhabitants were lost or hurt during the Hurricane passing.
