friday-satelliteA trough over the central Caribbean will continue to bring moisture and humid teperatures over the Dominican Republic on Thursday and the easterky wind blowing over the country, will be responsible for the occurrence of scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms and wind gusts in the border regions, Northeast, Southeast and the Cibao valley. This precipitation will occur in the afternoon with a tendency to dissipate before midnight.

Hurricane Danielle is now a strong Category 4 storm on the Saffir Simpson scale, and is located about 870 km southeast of Bermuda, moving northwest at about 19 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour.


In addition, Tropical Storm Earl, 2,300 km east of the Leeward Islands (West Indies), is moving westward at about 28 kph with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph. Earl is being monitored by all agencies and is expected to become a hurricane later today.

Finally, an extensive a tropical wave located south of the islands of Cape Verde, is displaying a high potential to become a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours, the National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) is closely monitoring the development of this system.
