dominican-baseball-teamMayaguez - After nearly three decades, the Dominican Republic has won the gold medal in baseball at the Central American and Caribbean Games, and Gabriel Mercedes won gold for the third consecutive time in the taekwondo event.

At the end of the games on Wednesday, the Dominican teams had added 7 more medals to its totals 2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes bringing its running total to 25 gold medals, 30 silver and 60 bronze.

The Dominican baseball squad defeated Mexico 3-2 in a dramatic match at the Isidoro Garcia stadium right here on their home turf. The last time the Dominicans won the gold medal in baseball at Central American and Caribbean Games was in 1982, in Havana, against Cuba´s National team.
