A tropical wave located over the canal de los vientos is interacting with a trough located on the southwest portion of the of the Dominican Republic making weather conditions favorable for the occurrence of scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds to the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Central and Cordillera Border Area. Dominican President Leonel Fernandez will play host to Puerto Rican Leader Luis Fortuño tomorrow who is travelling here for a two day official visit. Deep Blue Marine Underwater Recovery experts have located a shipwreck laden with ancient treasure just off the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Bird Watching - 2 Puerto Rican Todys were spotted yesterday in Residencial Hispaniola by an avid 'twitcher' who managed to get a picture of the birds that are endemic to the archipelago of Puerto Rico. The Todys have not been seen on the Island of Hispaniola for many years now. The International Monetary Fund released figures today that continue to show an upward trend with regard to the economy of the Dominican Republic. Currently 2011 statistics show a sustained growth of 5.5% with this current trend set to maintain course for 2012.
