Cap Cana - The 2nd White Marlin Cap Cana Fishing Tournament is taking place from June 17-19. It has been reported that so far this years fishing season has been slow, but with the change of the moon from the end of May, fishing for June and July looks more promising.
White Marlin, Blue Marlin, Wahoo and Dorado´s are the the prize catches and with water temperatures between 82-84ºF conditions could have never been more perfect.
To date a 9 year old boy has been the envy of many of the contestants in this event after breaking the Royal Billfish Slam achievement - Jack McCluskey had to accomplish by capturing no less than 9 distinctive species in their habitats and has done so in less than 10 months - this is a feat less than 100 people in the world have been able to achieve.
Andrew New, the manager of the Cap Cana Marina, reported that the Royal Billfish Slam is one of the most impressive feats in sport fishing that has been achieved by a very select group of people. Some anglers spend their entire lives in search of this feat, but commented that Jack had done it at only 9 years of age, making him the youngest angler ever to do so and was thrilled that he chose Cap Cana as his final destination on this most impressive journey.
