Santo Domingo - RD$600 million is expected to be the estimated losses to the Dominican Government due to a 24 hour strike by the country´s largest truck owner association (Fenatrado). As of 0600hrs today until 0600 Wednesday August 11th, all of the association members lorries and trucks will be halted nationwide.
Blas Peralta, head of Fenetrano has called on the Dominican Governmet quoting "to put an end to the abuses and aggressions against the population, because as the song says, if you continue tightening the nut, is possible to strip the threads, because it’s a chaotic situation." and that he is demanding that President Leonel Fernandez´government reduce fuel prices which are due to rise by some 10% in coming months.
