147th anniversary of the country´s restoration celebrated Monday
Santiago - Several official activities were celebrated yesterday in Santiago and the Dominican Capital, Santo Domingo, to commemorate the 147th anniversary of the Restoration of the Dominican Republic.The holiday festivities included a Te Deum in the La Altagracia church in Santiago at 0800hrs with the Dominican National Anthem, followed by the raising of the Dominican flag in the front of the Fort St. Louis.
The service at the church was held by Archbishop Ramón Benito de la Rosa, during which he urged those present to have faith in the country's future, after expressing that is not true that Dominican society is worse than in 1863 - the Archbishop also said that all sectors of Dominican society must ensure that any of the good achieved by the country is lost through bad actions of its people.
