Martinez explained that most of the projects will be real estate projects and will be located in the areas of Punta Cana and Samana, with Spanish, American and Dominican investment.
Also announced was a new flight to the DR with Aeroflot Russian Airlines launching a weekly flight to the Dominican Republic beginning next month. Aeroflot is the national airline and largest airline of Russia and with Transaero Airlines, the Russian Charter company, this extra flight is to bring a big boost of Russian visitors to the country
11th DATE Concludes in Punta Cana
Punta Cana - The 11th Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE), has just concluded in Punta Cana - and was held at the Moon Palace Casino, Golf & Spa Resort and is attended by hoteliers, tour operators and other suppliers to the tourist industry.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism Radhames Martinez Aponte, in celebration of this the 11th event, announced that The Council for the Promotion of the tourism industry has approved 7 new investment projects in the Domninican tourism sector amounting to approximately US$780 million - which will also involve the construction of upto an extra 11,000 hotel rooms.
