Great news as an agreement has been signed by several entities establishing the first stage of action for the official clean up and reforestation of an area which is located between the communities of Las Charcas, Salaya and Sabana Iglesia (Santiago Region).

The agreement has been signed by Cooperative San Miguel president Rodolfo Reyes, Provincial governor Jose Izquierdo, Environment Ministry colonel Giovanni Tiburcio and Cibao Ecological Society president Nelson Batista promotes the ecological culture in the area with a main focus on reforestation.

The programme includes the clean up of the highway between Santiago and Janico.

Mr. Reyes said after signing the agreement “The respect for nature is the base of sustainable development”.  He continued “The actions will be carried out with the Governments logistical as well as the Environment Ministry’s and Soeci’s technical support”.
