| Two More Exec's Involved in Dominican Shell Scandal |

As the "Dallas" soap opera style Shell scandal continues to rock the island of the Dominican Republic, two more high flying exectuives have now been supoenaed in the on going scandal. The Corruption Prevention Dept (DEPRECO) has issused the supoenae's one to a member of the Administration Council and the other went out to Shell itself. DEPRECO sub-director Mr Otoniel Bonilla siad that the supoenas were issued in relation to the alteration of invoives which allegedly occured frequently when purchasing fuel. At this moment in time he did not reveal any exact names and said "to not obstruct the process and because there are still technical and legal adjustments".
The sub director continued to explain that the "Penal Procedural Code (CPP) forces DEPRECO to inform the people who are interrogated what the investigation is aobut in order for them to offer all details required in the process". And just last week DEPRECO interrogated the Ex SUpply Manager from Shell Mr Jan Willem Frederick Lugtmeijer for 4 hours, during that thime he denied any wrong doings in fuel purchasing and that he had actually been fired from the company. The Lawyer for Mr Lugtmeijer defended his clients honesty and said he went to DEPRECO to collaborate with the investigation. The saga continues... |
