The Acropolis Mall in Santo Domingo Faces Disconnection E-mail

Remember we reported on the massive outstanding electricity debt that still had not been paid by the high class shoppping mall, Acropolis, well it still hasn't been paid and the  debt still remains at US$7.3 million dollars!

The Anti Electricity Fraud Program is now planning to take the owners of the mall in Santo Domingo to court to try and recover at least part of the unpaid bill.

Other measure could be taken including their power being cut off completely which will instantly freeze up business for all the retail units and such like in the shopping mall.  The electricity provider is a company called EDESUR and they have told local media that it is not only the Acropolis Mall that could face action.

The debt at the Acropolis has been steadily bulding since 2005 and the owners have not been able to come to a mutual agreement with the electricity company.  For this reason drastic measures are now being taken.

The Anti Electricity Fraud Program has said that it will also in the next few days make public other names of big companies that are in a similar position, name and shame.
