With something now replaying like a bad episode of "Dallas" the Shell Scandal continues in the Dominican Republic...(just wondering who JR is..?)

The Department of Corruption and Prevention were left sitting alone and waiting for the Ex Executive of SHELL yesterday when Mr. Jan Willem Frederick Lugtmeijer failed to keep an appointment with them.

Due for interrogation by DEPRECO on the matter of charges of altering fuel purchase invoices in the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (REFIDOMSA) Lugtmeijer instead send a message via his legal team to say “Thanks for the invite, but he would not be attending.” 

DEPRECO assistant director Otoniel Bonilla has already this morning subpoenaed him for 9.00am under the warning that if he does not appear this time then they will adopt the corresponding legal measures.  

Bonilla who is head of the interrogation said Lugtmeijer’s Legal Excuse has been accepted as valid, but quote “Nevertheless, we have agreed and set a new citation for this morning (today), which we gave to his lawyer and he has received it from us in representation of Mr. Lugtmeijer.” 

Lugtmeijer has said that he needs time to prepare himself with his lawyer for the forth coming interrogation. DEPRECO Assistant Director Bonilla said that if the Shell Ex Executive fails to turn up again for questioning after he has received the request legally to come in, then it could lead to his arrest. 

The scandal about Shell broke with the newspaper Listin Diario probing into reports and Mr. Lugmeijer was subsequently dismissed in April this year for the allegations of “alerting invoices”. 

Bonilla concluded “It’s for this he has to defend himself and if there are other people, he must say whom they are or who it is.”
