| Law & Order - Ex-Army Captain offers RD$100 million to Drop Charges |
|
|
Dominican Republic National District Public Prosecutor is currently perusing a proposal dropped in his lap by Ex-Army Captain Mr. Quirino Paulino, who has offered the Dominican State RD$100 million, if the Justice Ministry would just drop the charges against him and his relatives remaining in the Dominican Republic.
Jose Manuel Hernandez quoted by Listin Diario newspaper said that Paulino’s lawyers deposited the proposal letter, and that he and other prosecutors in the case will be studying to try and determine whether it’s legally feasible. He did refuse to comment on the content alleging that they must first study it. Hernandez continued to say that Justice Minister Radhames Jimenez had not yet read the letter and clarified the case is a judicial issue in which only the Justice Ministry can reach a decision.
The letter from the Ex-Army Officer is willing to let authorizes keep up to 100 million pesos in assets that have been seized from him in the country, in exchange for stopping the prosecution against him and his relatives.
Meanwhile the accused is imprisoned in a maximum, security jail in New York. He was arrested in December of 2004 and then extradited to the States to face drug trafficking and money laundering charges. |
