New "Road school" for naughty drivers!!

Since the end of March this year over 800 drivers have had to attend the “Preparatory Road School” (not like a prep school for young ladies in Switzerland!) coordinated by both the Special Land Transport Tribunal and the Metropolitan Transport Authority aka AMET. 

Most of the “pupils” were attending school due to ignoring red lights with the schools aim of showing road awareness, safety precautions and the new novel concept of actually CONCENTRATING whilst driving. 

One of the teachers on the course a Luis Diaz Alba said that several drivers had in fact confessed to “buying their licenses and had never undergone any training, driving lessons or taken a driving test”. 

A total of 18 pupils commenced their courses on Saturday and will be given their licenses back once they have successfully completed the course and paid a fine. 

Teacher Alba continued to explain that the main purpose of the course was to remind drivers about safe driving, and he is very keen to highlight such dangerous practices like, using your cellular phone, or writing during driving as main the activities NOT to do whilst behind the wheel..

Diaz Alba also said that he felt more AMET officers were needed on the streets. 

One driver, Carmito Feliz, said that the course had been a good experience and that he would put what they had learned into practice.
