Dominican Customs Get Tougher E-mail

The DGA otherwise known as The Dominican Customs Agency is urging all airlines and companies involved in transporting merchandise or documentation to now adhere to the law and declare those companies or private individuals that are surpassing the US$10,000 limit.

The DGA have said they are about to commence a campaign in all ports and airport in the DR within the next few days, and are pressing the need to declare those values.  They have warned against violating the law (Law No 226-06) which declares it a criminal offense if nationals of the DR or foreigners entering Dominican territory do not make the corresponding declaration.

This is what the Customs people have stated today “Contraband is considered a criminal infraction, for the national or foreigner who when entering or leaving the nation territory, by air, sea or land, carrying money or instruments, values to the bearer or who send those via public or private money whose amount exceeds US$10,000 or another foreign currency or its equivalent in national currency does not declare it or will declare their amount in falsely prepared forums to the effect.”

There is a new form to fill out in the need arises and it is Customs form no 31-3357 and is available at airport counters, ports and border crossings, passengers or carriers must fill this out to declare values.

The DGA has also said that for transport companies who do not currently carry the forms they may contact the Customs directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
