Excess Green Power Can Be Sold to the Grid |
|
|
Companies or homeowners generating their own solar or wind power will now be able to sell any excess production to the power grid according to an agreement reached with the power companies. This will be accomplished by the installation of two-way meters that can measure not only energy used but also energy returned to the grid. Some companies in Santo Domingo have already installed the system in response to the Renewable Energy Development Incentive Law recently passed by the government. The law is meant to stimulate investment in producing renewable energies. A fair will be held from June 27th to June 29th in the office of the Dominican Engineers, Architects and Surveyors Guild (CODIA) in Santo Domingo to showcase renewable energy models that are already being developed in the country.
