No Holiday for Subway Construction |

It is obvious from the pace at which subway construction is now proceeding that President Leonel Fernandez intends to do everything possible to keep his promise made during this year's State of the Republic Address held on February 27 that he would be taking his first ride on the new Santo Domingo subway system right after his 2008 Address. Even yesterday's religious holiday, Corpus Christi, did not stop the frenzied pace of work. In fact, workers took advantage of lighter than normal traffic to position structures, pave some streets and dig up others.
