The head and new president of the Caribbean Hotels Association for the 2008-2010 term is Enrique de Marchena from the Dominican Republic. 

He ran unopposed in the nomination committee candidate Convention which is being held in Florida until tomorrow. 

Mr. Marchena’s statement to the press “This election honors me and I receive it as testimony of the leadership reached by Dominincan Republic in the region’s tourism development and also as a commitment to assume the challenge to continue the excellent work and leadership developed from this institution by so many Caribbean leaders”. 

He is the second Dominican and second Caribbean Hispanic to reach the post, which he reaches just 4 years after becoming one of the board of directors for the Caribbean Hotel Association.

Previously the first Dominican to take this position was Simon Suarez.
