| Digital Dominican Republic? |
|
|
Is the Dominican about to go digital? That is the question! To Digitalize or not to Digitalize What Sayeth the Powers That Be….?
It is all in the hands of the Dominican Republic’s Broadcasters, who have received credit offers from the Eximbank of the USA, and while the authorities have been asked to grant low tariffs to import the necessary digital equipment as soon as possible the country is in dire straits about being left behind in this new era of technology implementation.
The advice is coming from 20 of the world’s main digital broadcasting experts and also local broadcasters after their 1st International Digital Radio Forum, which was held in Santo Domingo last week.
Indotel who are the Dominican Telecommunications Institute coordinated the meeting, which was a bench mark in the Continent of The Americas as the first ever meeting taking place. The President of Indotel Jose Rafael Vargas said that the future of radio, television and Internet are fundamentally in its content.
Also taking part on behalf of the Dominican Broadcasters Association (ADORA) president Roberto Vargas, Brazilian Broadcasters Association representative Ronald Barbosa and from Argentina’s National Communications Commission (CNC) their president, Cerefino Namuncura.
