On Wednesday President Leonel Fernandez made a tour of flood ravaged areas in the Cibao region of the country. His purpose was to ensure that those hard hit by the flooding were obtaining the proper assistance from the government. Swollen rivers caused extensive damage in the region and the President visited the Jamo bridge on the Camu River where repair works were already in progress. He also inspected the damage to other bridges damaged by overflowing rivers. The government is creating a fund to help repair flood damages assessed at close to RD$1 billion. The President will visit Dajabon and Palo Verde in the Montecristi region on Friday to assess the extent of damage there.
