Dominican Republic Could Host Major League Ball Games |

Sports Minister Felipe Payano has announced that a commission has been created to work with Major League Baseball (MLB) to bring several exhibition games to the Dominican Republic during 2008. Payano has met with MLB executives and the New York Mets. Hall of Famer Juan Marichal is expected to be part of the commission. The last time exhibition games were held in the country was during the first term in office of President Leonel Fernandez from 1996 to 2000. At the time two games were held, one between the New York Mets and former Montreal Expos and one between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. The President is said to be very excited about the prospect.
