German Ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Karl Köhler, has announced that the Dominican Republic has been chosen as the nation invitee of honour at next year's Berlin Tourism Market.

Köhler had recently been critical of the Domincan Republic and what he perceived as a decrease in the friendliness of the population as compared to 20 years ago and credited this with the drop in German tourists.

He now comments that, in fact, the tourism areas have improved significantly and that this tourism event being held in Germany is a chance for the country to turn things around and attract more German tourists. The Dominican Republic will have the chance to promote its variety of tourist packages and offers.
