President Goes Into Primaries With Big Lead |

With the primaries for the PLD presidential candidacy to be held on Sunday May 6, a poll conducted by the Cibao Economic Center shows President Leonel Fernandez has the backing of 83.4% of party members to Danilo Medina's 16.6%. In the last few days the President had obtained the support of Jose Tomás Perez and ex-Vice President Jaime David Fernandez Mirabel assuring a comfortable victory in this weekend's primaries. The winner of these primaries will go on to be the PLD's presidential candidate in the May 16 2008 elections. The poll surveyed 4000 random PLD rank and file members that were registered to vote on May 6 and carries a error margin of 1.55%.
