A report published yesterday by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (Cepal) entitled "Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean" says that in spite of problems in infrastructure investment the Dominican Republic is third in in the region for receiving the most foreign investment. It ranks only behind Costa Rica and Panama. The Cepal report concludes that the region in general needs to improve the business atmosphere, supplier base, technological and scientific infrastructure among other areas in order to attract more investment needed to enhance growth and development.
