Norway is funding the Second International Conference on the Future of Dominican Republic and Haiti Relations being held in Cote de Arcadins, Haiti from May 2 to May 5. This year's conference is titled "For An Environment Favorable to Peace on the Island".

The event will bring together political, religious, national and international leaders as well as members of civil society, the media and other sectors in order to form positive bilateral relations and foster good will between both countries.  The focus will be on developing good government policies in regard to environmental issues and stimulating sustainable development with the ecosystem. The conference hopes to find alternatives for both nations to recover an environment that has been threatened by erosion, natural catastrophes and desertification, particularly in Haiti.

This year's conference was organized by The Dominican Church's Social Service and the Evangelical Church's Dominican-Haitian Dialogue. It is supported by Norway's Foreign Relations Ministry, Norway Church Aid, Nature Conservancy and the United Nations Population Fund.
