Gore Approves of Dominican Environmental Policies |
|
|
Al Gore, former Vice-President fo the United States, has used the Dominican Republic as a good example of a country implementing suitable environmental policies when compared to other nations and particularly neighbouring Haiti. He stressed that the environment must be dealt with politically because it is a political problem and showed aerial photos of the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti to highlight his opinion. The photos show the Haitian side as a desert caused by deforestation allowed by lack of government policies and how policies in this country have allowed the Dominican Republic to remain lush and green. He urges governments to deal with environmental situations with a political reaction. Gore recently won an Oscar for his documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth" that show images around the world and the effects of global warming.
