Senate Approves Renewable Energy Bill |

The Law of Incentive for the Development of Renewable Energy Sources has been passed by the Dominican Senate. The Senate realizes that while the Dominican Republic does not have marketable sources of fossil fuels and that this creates a dependency on external sources, it does have the necessary resources to develop renewable energies such as biodiesel, biomass, sun, wind and hydroelelectric power. At the same time, the Senate also passed a bill making mandatory the teaching of subjects on the defense of the environment and natural resources in schools.
