Actor/director Robert De Niro has often come to the Dominican Republic to find a haven away from his celebrity lifestyle may be interested in investing in the hotel industry here. If he does invest it will likely be in either Pedernales in the southwest of the country or Montecristi in the northwest. He will be joining a long list of celebrities and personalities who have already invested in the tourism industry here.

Dominican tourism minister Felix Jiménez confirmed De Niro's investment plans after a recent visit to New York where he invisted the actor to consider the Dominican Republic as a great place to establish a second home as many others already have.

It is part of the Tourism Ministry's strategy to promote tourism-based businesses among personalities around the world.
