About water sports in the Dominican Republic

Kite SurfingThis is an absolute water enthusiasts dream come true here in the Dominican Republic, especially on the north coast.  Cabarete once a sleepy beach town now proudly boasts World International Competitions at Pro Level for kite, wind and surf competitions.  Sponsorship is high and so is the class of athlete out there on the ocean.

Beginners though, don’t be alarmed there are many schools to choose from to learn where to put your hands and feet, and how to definitely get wet with a smile on your face.  Shop around for lessons or just take stock for a day or two and watch from the beach fronts.

Cabarete has certain beaches for kiting and surfing and you’ll soon be pointed in the right direction.  At Enquentro beach the surfers are out early, respect the rules of the road down here as local lads always have first waves as is customary in every country you visit.  Enquentro offers family friendly fun, a café pit stop and improvements are being made already for a skate ramp and BBQ areas so non surfers can join in the fun too.

Kite Beach just before you hit the main drag of Cabarete can be spotted in the distance as you will see the kiters up in the air performing their amazing leaps.  Pros and beginners mix alike and there are some fantastic kite schools available and bare back accommodations to choose from.

Now if you’re interested in being on top of the water and not necessarily working too hard at it, then scoot over to our excursion shop at www.therealdr.com/store and take a look at some excellent watery excursions from the dreamy luxury Catamaran boats or for some hard core exciting Big Game Deep Sea Fishing boat trips on the north coast of the Dominican Republic or if you are staying in the south or east there is plenty to choose from there too.

Read on for some more watery delights in this great section water sports.
