Dominican Republic’s President Mr. Leonel Fernandez inaugurated works on the sea front or Malecon in Puerto Plata this week. Costing over RD$72 million improvements to the famed Malecon include a storm drainage system, decorative Victorian cast iron street lights and 40 shops. Starting at the Long Beach zone of the Malecon and teamed up with the new wider beaches and imported sand, the Malecon of Puerto Plata is looking sleek, clean and very inviting.
The minister for Tourism Mr. Felix Jimenez said that the works have been carried out with a view to attracting tourists and visitors to come down to the Malecon and enjoy themselves. The improvements include changing booths and bathrooms.
