Labour Day Weekend to be Free of Alcohol Restrictions E-mail

International Labour Day officially falls on Tuesday May 1 but will be celebrated here on Monday May 30.

Due to the fact that Monday will be a holiday, Interior and Police Minister Franklin Almeyda announced the temporary lifting of normal alcohol restrictions for Sunday May 29. The restrictions have been in place since July 28, 2006 and that this exception to the decree controlling the allowable times for selling alcohol is allowable under section 316-06.

The Real DR wishes everyone a happy Labour Day holiday!

Another Round of Fuel Price Increases E-mail

Did you fill your tank yesterday? If not, you may be wishing you had. After only a minor reduction in prices last week fuel prices jumped again this week.

Premium gasoline is up RD$2.50 to RD$154.40 per gallon and regular gasoline now sells for RD$140.90, an increase of RD$2.10. Diesel was raised by RD$2.30 to RD$106.90.

Even propane gas saw a significant increase of RD$1.60. Subsidized propane now sells for RD$48.76 and non-subsidized is now RD$70.52.

Fluctuating world prices of crude oil are blamed for fuel price increases for 12 out of the last 14 weeks.

Your Weekend Weather Forecast for April 28 &29 E-mail

Okay, that was no chance of showers week we just had!

But it looks, hopefully, like the weekend may be a bit better. But don't put away that rain gear just yet!

Saturday 28th - probably scattered showers in the morning hours with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and a chance of early evening showers. Hard to tell but it sounds like more sun than cloud. High of 84F and low of 71F.

Sunday 29th - chance of isolated thunderstorms throughout the day - have we actually had a thunderstorm since they started predicting them?!? High of 89F and low of 73F.

So my soggy friends, not the sundrenched weekend at the beach that we were hoping for but take heart - it can't last forever, can it? Anybody know anyone named Noah, just in case? Enjoy your weekend everyone!
