The Gran Bahia Principe El Portillo is supposed to open by the end of November (next month). It's the former El Portillo Beach Resort in Las Terranas. I stayed there about 5 yrs ago and it was great then so can imagine when Bahia opens it as a 5 star it should be even better. There are also 3 more Gran Bahias to open at the same time in the Samana penninsula - the Gran Bahia Principe Samana, Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa, and Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado. The Cayacoa and Cayo Levantado are hotels that were already there and are being reconstructed and/or renovated by the Bahia chain, but am not sure about the Bahia Samana one, it may be a newly constructed resort. They will all will be 5 star resorts. Hope that helps. Cheers!
