confused - 2006/09/22 10:36 Which side of the Island is best to visit. I want to be able to actually see how the people live there as I am not a big beach person.
Can anyone help

The north coast is better for meeting and seeing the populace. I recommend you stay either in Puerto Plata or Sosua. Puerto Plata is a largish urban area while Sosua is quieter and most of the hotels and resorts are right in town.
There is also a very pretty cove area with a nice beach you can walk to the next town of Cheramicos while viewing the little tourist shops that line the way.
